Blaze burns 3.5K acres

Three fires sparked by a passing vehicle burnt up the canyons adjacent to the Cuesta Grade on Highway 101 Sunday evening, eventually combining and burning down the back side of the mountain, threatening the community of Santa Margarita and causing the evacuation of approximately 500 people.
