A Paso Robles man was arrested on suspicion of attempted rape and forced oral copulation and later booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail Tuesday after he allegedly attacked and tried to rape a 19-year old woman at Sherwood Park.

According to police, Jesus Alfonso Joaquin Vasquez faces two felony charges and a maximum 16-year sentence if convicted. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vasquez, 32, allegedly attacked the woman around the bathrooms at Sherwood Park and later fled on foot, but he didn’t get far.

Police matched a description of the suspect and arrested him in the 1200 block of Stoney Creek Road. The woman did not require transport to a hospital, according to police.

The PRPD is looking for witnesses who might have information on the incident. Anyone with information can call PRPD at 237-6464.
