Software designer and developer IQMS, whose corporate headquarters is based in east Paso Robles, will celebrate its 20th anniversary today, marking decades of growth, stability and community involvement.
Employees, friends and family, local businesspeople and local dignitaries are expected to gather at the modern, state-of-the-art eastside facility located off 2231 Wisteria Lane in recognition of the company’s ongoing community support and company growth meeting the needs of manufacturers in a rapidly changing global marketplace.
IQMS, described as a “leader in the design and development or enterprise resource planning [ERP] software,” was founded in 1989 by owners Randy and Nancy Flamm as a single-source software solution to help manufacturers keep their business lean while growing profit margins. It moved to Paso Robles in 1995 and constructed its new facility in the mid-2000s.
“Our anniversary marks our continuous commitment to bring innovation and customer service to manufacturing industries around the world,” Randy Flamm, president and founder of IQMS, said in a press release. “We are extremely proud of our company and are looking forward to many more years of ERP development.”
IQMS made significant efforts toward bettering the local community. The global company has grown to employ from seven to more than 100 employees and is a generous supporter and sponsor of many local activities throughout the city including the California Mid-State Fair, AYSO, Paso Robles City Library, Rotary Club of Paso Robles, Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce, Partners in Education, United Way of San Luis Obispo and numerous local organizations. Recently IQMS donated $5,000 to support the annual Paso Robles Fourth of July fireworks celebration at Barney Schwartz Park, which was in danger of discontinuation due to funding shortfalls.
Community and business leaders, governmental dignitaries and individuals interested in the expansion of Paso Robles’ business sector have welcomed its presence.
“Despite this economic situation we are in, IQMS is a company that continues to grow,” First District County Supervisor Frank Mecham said in a press release. “That said a lot about their vision and for their involvement in the industry.”
Mecham described the company as a good, solid company with good, solid people, very stable and an asset to the community.
“IQMS has been a tremendous employer,” he said. “The people who work for them love them. They are very engaged in the community.”
Despite the current economic downturn, IQMS has continued to post profitability and in 2008 increased customer accounts by double-digit percent margins with a 98-percent customer retention rate, according to a company press release.
Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce CEO Mike Gibson said from day one IQMS has been one of the largest supporters of the community both volunteer-wise and financially. Gibson said IQMS, a Chairman’s Circle sponsor, is a prime example of just the kind of company business officials are hoping to attract, providing head-of-household jobs while embracing an environmentally friendly approach to manufacturing.
“You name it — they’re involved in the community from the get-go,” he said. “The presence and impact of IQMS in this community both business and community-wise has been immense.”
