The venue has changed for an upcoming town hall meeting being hosted by Congressman Kevin McCarthy focusing on the national health care debate.
McCarthy’s town hall meeting set for Wednesday, Sept. 2 will be held at the Paso Robles Event Center, Commercial Building No. 2, 2198 Riverside Ave., from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
The forum was originally planned for the Atascadero Lake Pavilion but was changed to accommodate more residents.
“As Congress deliberates the future of America’s health care, I want to listen to our local residents concerns and answer their questions,” McCarthy, R-Bakersfield, said in a statement. “I am fighting to keep families in control of decisions, not bureaucrats.”
The purpose of the meeting is to listen to local residents’ concerns and answer questions about the health care debate in Congress, according to a press release. A similar health care forum was scheduled in Bakersfield. McCarthy plans to be in attendance at the meetings.
The new House health reform proposal under fire is known as H.R. 3200, which according to McCarthy’s Web site was being “rushed through Congress.”
McCarthy said he cannot support passage of H.R. 3200 and that it was a “government takeover of health care” to “ensure that the only thing driven down more than the quality of health care is our nation’s fiscal health.”
McCarthy said that he supports “fiscally responsible health care solutions that focus on increasing affordability, accessibility, and jobs, and also protecting individuals, small businesses, and families.”
RSVP is not required; however, those who want to reserve a spot can call McCarthy’s district office at 661-327-3611, e-mail RSVP.McCarthy@mail.house.gov or visit www.kevinmccarthy.house.gov/events/.
