The California Mid-State Fair announced that it is now accepting suggestions for its 2010 theme.
Next year’s theme aims to “deliver the essence of the ocean,” according to fair officials, who suggested topics like 1960s surfing, the Santa Monica Pier and surfboards as examples of possible ideas.
Last year’s jungle-focused theme was “Take A Ride On The Wild Side” featuring exotic animals like zebras, lions and tigers and visible in fair materials like zebra-striped press badges and promotional information.
“As we begin to plan for the 2010 Fair, the first step is selecting a great theme,” said Mid-State Fair Chief Executive Officer Vivian Robertson in a press release. “The theme is always an integral part of our annual event, incorporated into marketing materials and used throughout our exhibit departments.”
Entries will be submitted to the fair’s board of directors at its October meeting for consideration and final selection. The person submitting the winning entry will receive two season passes for the 2010 California Mid-State Fair.
Entries must be no more than one sentence long.
To submit a theme, send an e-mail to mail@midstatefair.com or mail entries to CMSF Theme Contest, P.O. Box 8, Paso Robles, CA 93447. Entries must include a name, address, phone number and email address. The deadline for the entries is Monday, Oct. 19. The 2010 California Mid-State Fair runs July 21, 2010, through August 1, 2010.
