Norbert “Charlie” Grasser went home to be with the Lord on Nov. 30, 2008. Charlie was born in March 1947 in Weiden, Germany. He moved to the United States at the age of 10 with his mother Betty Blackwell.
Charlie graduated from Paso Robles High School and later earned his Bachelors Degree and teaching credential from Cal Poly. He married Anna Crew in 1975 and had a daughter Carrie, in 1977, and son Ralston, in 1982. He was a teacher for more than 26 years; Charlie taught English and yearbook at PRHS as well as English at the California Youth Authority. He retired from teaching in 2001.
Charlie was a person who enjoyed life and his motto was always Carpe Diem, seize the day. He had an adventurous soul and enjoyed horseback riding, photography, antiquing, and the arts. His dry humor and quick wit resulted in many smiles.
He is survived by his mother Betty Blackwell; step-daughter Winnie Litten and grandchildren Caleb and Jacob; daughter Carrie and husband Jeff Farmer and grandchildren Gwendolyn and Kaitlyn; son Ralston and wife Emily Grasser; siblings Randy Blackwell, Ronnie Blackwell, and Beverly and husband Lewis Escobar; and numerous family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Charlie’s name to the American Heart Association, 1710 Gilbreth Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.
