The Paso Robles High School varsity football team improved to 1-1 for the season following a 55-42 win over Central of Fresno.
The Bearcat offense exploded for eight touchdowns in the win.
Paso Robles’ Robert Burbank scored on a 38-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Burbank struck five more times in the game, his longest a 72-yard run. Sophomore Elias Stokes added one touchdown for the Bearcats on a 20-yard pass from Thomas Bernal, and Bernal added the other touchdown with a quarterback keeper for six yards.
The Bearcats jumped out to a 28-0 lead before Central answered back. By halftime, the Bearcats led 35-14. Central held the Bearcats to a single touchdown in the fourth quarter while posting three of their own, but it was too little, too late.
The Bearcats begin a three-game home stand starting with St. Joseph Friday, Sept. 18, Garfield on Friday, Sept. 25, a bye on Friday Oct. 2 and then El Diamante on Friday, Oct. 9 before opening league play against Lompoc on Friday, Oct. 16.
