Paso graduates 430 students

Posted: Tuesday, Jun 17th, 2014

Paula McCambridge/Paso Robles Press Paso Robles High School graduated 430 students Friday night.

PASO ROBLES — Graduation isn’t a sure thing for all the students who are academically and personally tested throughout their years of public school, but every student who crossed the stage during Paso Robles High School Class of 2014 ceremony Friday earned his and her place there.

“I feel so proud of myself,” said Xochil Martinez before the ceremony. “I’m proud that I could accomplish something that some people didn’t think I could.”

Asked how she made it through the rigors of high school, Martinez immediately

credited her teachers.

“My teachers, like Miss Ruth, they never gave up on me,” she said, tears filling

her eyes.

Miss Ruth is Ruth Enriquez-Bague. She said Martinez made it through because

of the student’s own hard work. As she described Martinez’s diligence, the student smiled though tears rolled down her face.

“This little girl worked very hard,” Enriquez-Bague said, her eyes also getting teary. “There was a time she didn’t think she would graduate, but she was in my classroom every single day working. I’m so proud of her.”
