The California Mid-State Fair opened its giant gates Wednesday and was stampeded by an eager public while the annual cattle drive moved onto the site.
“I’ve been coming to this fair for 57 years, and we’ve been the contractors for about 35 years for all the cattle for all the events,” said Cathie Twisselman. “And then the cattle drive, as long as it’s been happening, we’ve been doing it.”
Cattle being driven in are for cutting and first-week events; cattle being trucked out on Wednesday are for roping and second-week events. For the complete article see the 07-18-2014 issue.
