TEMPLETON ó New small-town housing developments are popping up daily all across the country. Templeton Ranch, Templetonís newest housing development located at 221 Main St. just east of Highway 101, is one of them.
Although this housing project was first approved by San Luis Obispo County back in January 2011, it has taken a number of years for the actual physical development to ensue. Two longtime local Templeton businesses, Templeton Livestock Market and Hooverís Beef Palace, unfortunately had to close before the development company, Coastal Community Builders, Inc., could continue on with their work.
Coastal Community Builders, Inc., which focuses on communities as far south as Solvang all the way up to Templeton, bought the 16.76 acre property with the intention of adding a little energy to Templetonís sleepy town feel through the addition of residential, recreational and commercial sites.
These Templeton sites, nestled in between two bigger, more well-known cities ó Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo ó will feature a mix of various single- and double-story family homes. Houses will measure anywhere from about 1,250 feet to roughly 2,300 feet and will sit on lots ranging from about 2,600 to 6,600 square feet, depending on the model.
Models will be available in up to six different floor plans, which will embrace one of three styles: craftsman, farmhouse or Spanish. The surrounding community will also include five different parks, several designated open space areas, as well as a pedestrian trail.
Although the 40 single-family homes along with the 67 planned-unit developments are expected to be ready for sale by summer 2017 and completely finished by the fall, construction is still under way for the time being, and if necessary, plans are still liable to change.
