Paso Robles Trail Ride tradition continues at Estrella Ranch

GOD'S COUNTRY – rolling, grassy hillsides dotted by oaks underscores the vastness of George Hearst, Jr.'s Estrella Ranch, situated at the end of Almond Drive near Whitley Gardens. Hundreds of cowboys convened at the ranch site this week for the 2011 Paso Robles Trail Ride. HORSESHOES – Justin Smith plays horseshoes with the others at Tuesday's leg of the trail ride. VIEJO – It was longtime trail rider Kim Oeck's first year as a "viejo" during the Paso Robles Trail Ride. Oeck's dad, Max, was also a longtime participant and known as one of the early pranksters during the time.
