Executive Chef Clayton Hiemstra moved to Paso Robles six years ago after working in the Los Angeles area. PASO ROBLES — Downtown Paso Robles is a virtual foodie playground, offering up a wide array of menus to choose from.

When Phil Estrada decided to open up Monteverde's Italian Deli at 835 13th St., the focus was on providing killer sandwiches, with a little extra bang for your buck.

“When it comes to the cost of dining in downtown Paso Robles, there are some low-cost restaurants and some very high-end restaurants — there’s very little in the middle,” said Executive Chef and General Manager Clayton Hiemstra. “Our personal goal is to offer good food at a reasonable price that’s affordable for everybody.”
