TEMPLETON — The North County Indians hosted the Paso Robles Reds at the Vineyard Athletic Park on Friday, but the Reds probably wished they had stayed home after the result went final.

The Indians absolutely steamrolled the Reds, outscoring their Paso opponents by 23 runs in a 26-3 win that was over after seven innings.

The North County squad averaged over three runs per frame offensively, while holding the Reds to three total the whole game.

“We have to take care of ourselves and not worry about the other dugout, whether they’re the San Luis Obispo Blues, the Santa Barbara Foresters or the Paso Robles Reds,” said Indians head coach Dan Marple. “We can’t worry about what’s going on in the other dugout.”

On Friday night, not much was going on in the Reds’ dugout, as the Paso team looked on listlessly as the Indians continued to pour it on.

“That’s the challenge of coaching — keeping your players interested whether you’re on the positive side of a game that got out of control, or on the underside,” Marple explained. “None of these games are fun when they’re so lopsided, so you try to get the most out of it. You try to learn and take something away that’s positive.”

For the Indians, there was plenty to take away from the game, which saw the entire offensive lineup explode with productivity.
