TEMPLETON — After ending the first quarter in a 6-6 tie, the Templeton High School varsity football team piled on the points throughout the remainder of its game against Nipomo Friday night to earn a 36-18 victory at home in both teams’ Los Padres League opener.

“It was a team effort,” said Templeton head varsity coach Dan Loney. “We were pretty solid on both offense and defense. We were able to control the center with our front five, and we had guys make catches when they needed to. Our defense was stout, had some big plays including an interception and didn’t give Nipomo anything easy. The Titans had to work for everything they had.”
