PRHS Bearcat cheerleaders have spirit to spare

If you think today’s cheerleaders are all about fluff and taking a back seat to the male athletes out on the football field or basketball court, think again. The 64 cheerleaders on the Paso Robles High School cheer squad — 31 junior varsity and 33 varsity — are dedicated, hard-working athletes that practice year-round to perfect their sport.

Led by Jennifer Bedrosian and Amber Castillo, the journey of the 2012-13 Bearcat cheerleaders started with a two-day tryout in the spring and continues through the end of the school year. Although many high school athletes compete in one or two sports, members of the cheer squad practice their sport long after many athletes finish up their season.
