Bearcats battle rain, mud at Cats & Hounds soccer tournament

PASO ROBLES – The Paso Robles High School varsity Bearcats, along with the Atascadero High School Greyhounds, hosted the annual Cats & Hounds soccer tournament last Friday and Saturday amidst a mixture of mud and rain that left the teams scrambling from one field to the next over the course of the two days.

“It was a bit frustrating having to move fields due to conditions of rain,” Bearcats head varsity coach Omar McPherson said.

Originally scheduled at the Barney Schwartz Park soccer fields, PRHS coaches and administrators were forced to change locations for the 16 participating teams, oftentimes at the last minute. Despite the challenges, McPherson said the tournament was a success and gave the teams a chance to work on strategies as they continue preseason play and prepare for the upcoming league matches.
