THRIFTY – the ribbon is cut at the Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County thrift store, located at 716 Paso Robles Street Unit C. The store celebrated its first day open on Saturday, March 10.
It was a soft opening and a hopeful start for the North San Luis Obispo County Boys and Girls Club thrift store last Friday afternoon. Community members gathered at 716 Paso Robles St. in search of used goods, perusing through everything from baby clothes to purses and office supplies. The store officially opened on Saturday, March 10, and all funds will go to the local nonprofit.
Representatives from the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce participated in the ribbon cutting, which went off without a hitch.
“We are happy to announce the opening of our thrift store, which will benefit our organization and our children in so many ways,” said Lauren Cross, executive director of the Boys & Girls Club of North San Luis Obispo County. “The thrift store will enable the community to help us and others by recycling items they no longer need or use. Income generated by the Thrift Store will help support the youth development programs at the club. In addition, the Thrift Store will provide entry-level job training for teens through our Character & Leadership Program. This initiative is a win-win-win- for our youth, the community and our organization.”
Thrift store manager Hannah Doyle invites the community to visit and donate items and shop.
“We have a great variety of household goods, clothing and unique items,” said Doyle. “Shoppers will enjoy a boutique experience with yard sale prices. We are asking the community to choose our thrift store when considering options for items they no longer use. Please don’t throw away a chance to help change the life of a young person. You can help our kids and help yourself, and your donation is tax-deductible.”
