Georgia Brown Elementary school students listened to the call of the wild last Friday, Feb. 1 as internationally-renowned naturalist Brent Nixon asked his favorite rhetorical question: “Nature talks — are you listening?”

Nixon founded his non-profit Adventures in Nature more than eight years ago in response to growing requests for speaking engagements by public education institutions and community groups.

“I believe that when children get to meet the scientists that are doing the work in the field, and learn from them through engaging interactive presentations, that science becomes interesting and fun for them,” Nixon said. “ I am often referred to as a David Attenborough-type scientist with a Robin Williams sense of humor and a level of energy that makes
