Rosalie Virginia Pittenger (Galle) passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday morning August 30, 2016. She was 93. She was born on October 18, 1922 in Reedley California to Rueben and Jewell Galle (Bondurant).
She came to know the Lord Jesus as her savior while attending a Christian camp in Mt Herman, California at the age of 13.
The family moved to Santa Maria during her senior year of high school where she graduated. She attended BIOLA University in Los Angeles, graduating first with a Bachelorís degree in Christian education and then completing her studies in 1947 when she graduated from the school of Missionary medicine as a missions nurse.
During this time she attended the Los Angeles Church of the Open Door and was called to the mission Field in Japan. She served as a missionary in Japan for three years and returned home to work in a clinic for migrant workers in Huron, California. While living in Huron, she served in her fatherís church as a Sunday school teacher.
In 1956 she met and later married the love of her life, John Edgar Pittenger of Atascadero. He proposed to her at the top of Pine Mountain in Atascadero. They made their home in Atascadero for several years before moving to Paso Robles where she resided until her death.
Rosalie had a heart for ministry and her passion was to bring the salvation message to children. She humbly served in both childrens and adult ministries in the Paso Robles First Baptist Church for many years. She had a profoundly deep faith and personal relationship with her Lord and Savior.
Rosalie had a beautiful Soprano voice and loved to sing. She had a truly sweet, gentle demeanor. She was a generous and loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.
She will be greatly missed.
She was proceeded in death by her parents Rueben and Jewel Galle, her sister Mary Jo Weber, husband John Edgar Pittenger and infant son Jon Steven Pittenger.
She is survived by her two daughters; Jonine Pittenger of Paso Robles, California and Terri Meacham (Tim Meacham) of Tehachapi, California, two grandsons; Timothy Meacham (Jenna Meacham) of Daly City, California and Steven Meacham of San Jose, California and many nieces and nephews.
Rosalie was laid to rest next to her husband John and infant son Jon Steven in the Atascadero Cemetery.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, September 24, 2016, 10:30 am at the Paso Robles First Baptist Church; 1645 Park Street, Paso Robles, California. Luncheon immediately following in the Fellowship Hall.
