Marjorie (Margie) Mae Shrode was born in Paso Robles, Calif., on March 20, 1936. She lost her long battle with Alzheimer’s on Dec. 7, 2016, in her hometown of Meeker, Colo.
Margie is survived by her husband of 36 years, Earl R. Shrode. Other family survivors are her brother Jim Thomas; daughter Lisa Clarey (Dan); son Eric Strand (Tracy); stepson Mark Shrode (Karen); four granddaughters, Ashley and Emily, Taylor and Kaitlin; two grandsons, Tyler and Christian; and a great grandson, Corbin.
Margie was preceded in death by her parents Omar and Elizabeth Thomas (Elizabeth Lichti), her sister Nancy Gray (Thomas) and stepson Randy Shrode.
Margie remained in Paso Robles until relocating to Santa Barbara with her first husband in 1967. She remained in Santa Barbara until returning to Paso Robles in 1987 with Earl Shrode.
Margie loved going to garage sales, auctions and buying, selling and collecting antiques. In addition, she loved being on the Pontoon boat cruising around Lake Nacimiento and floating on rafts.
In April 2004, she and Earl moved to Meeker, Colo., where they both were active in the Meeker United Methodist Church. Margie loved singing in the choir at church, loved the congregation and the community of Meeker, where she made many heartfelt, loving friends.
Her ashes have been returned to Paso Robles, where they will be scattered overlooking the lake. She was a warm, loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed, and is now sitting at the right hand of God.
A memorial service is planned for spring 2017 at the Meeker United Methodist Church.
