Patricia "Pat" Reed passed away peacefully in her sleep on Halloween morning, Oct. 31, 2012. Pat was born in Grand Island, Neb. in 1931. Her father died in 1932, and her mother relocated to California looking for work, leaving Pat and her younger brother, Rick, to be raised by their grandparents. When she was 8 years old, Pat and her brother came to live with their mother in Burbank, Calif.
It was in Burbank, when she was 12 years old that Pat met her future husband, Harry Reed. Pat finished school and went to work for the phone company, riding the Red Car from Burbank every day to Los Angeles. The two were married April 28, 1951. In 1952 they relocated to Sepulveda, Calif., where they raised their three children.
Their daughter, June, had moved to Sacramento, and two sons, Jim and John, had moved to Paso Robles when the 1994 Northridge Earthquake damaged their home in Sepulveda and Pat decided they needed to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Pat and Harry moved to Paso Robles in 1994.
Pat was active until the day she passed away. She was known to drive her Cadillac with the subtle painted flames to town each day for groceries, to a doctor appointment or to have lunch with friends or family. She hadnít been content with her new Cadillac until she replaced the rims with ones more to her liking!
Pat collected demitasse tea cups and loved her little dogs. She read voraciously and worked crossword puzzles and played games on the computer while she listened to her favorite music, either country or jazz.
Pat is survived by her daughter June Klock of Carmichael, Calif.; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Jim and Karen Reed and John and Tamara Reed of Paso Robles; and four grandchildren, Bree Klock, Willy Reed, Matthew Reed and Caitlan Reed.
