William Edward Bradbeer

Posted: Monday, Nov 19th, 2012

William Edward (Ed) Bradbeer, 65, of San Luis Obispo died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family Tuesday Nov. 6, 2012.

Ed was born 12/23/46 to Charles (Teddy) and Kathryn Bradbeer in San Luis Opbiso. He attended Mission Central Catholic High School and graduated from Cal Poly.

Ed and his first wife married in June 1969 and had a son Christopher. Ed and his second wife Alicia Shockley married in June 1981 and had three amazing children Jesse, James and June. They were blessed with the most kindhearted, gentle and loving Father and Husband.

Ed was born into and carried on the food service business. Working first in family stores and later owning and operating several local restaurants: Samís Family Restaurant, Templeton Corner and the Halfway Station on Morro Road. The latter part of his life he worked at Atascadero State Hospital as a supervising cook. He retired in 2008.

Ed lived life to the fullest; he had a zest for camping, fishing and cooking with his family. One of his greatest joys in life was preparing wonderful food and feeding family, friends and anyone lucky enough to be around the barbecue. Ed was one of a kind, a rare breed who touched everyone in his life. A charismatic man who will live forever in the hearts of those he knew and loved. He had an unending love for his wife and children.

Ed is survived by his mother Kathryn Stieger; spouse Alicia Bradbeer; children Christopher, Jesse, James and June and her husband, James Michael Clark; his granddaughters Sophia Bradbeer and Lily Clark; sister Darlene Bradbeer; and uncle and aunt Roy and Dolly Garcia; and numerous cousins and extended family.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 11 a.m. It will be held in the Old Mission San Miguel with a celebration of his life following in the Parish Hall. Ed will be missed by all.
