Glenn Rediger

Glenn Ernest Rediger, 78, died peacefully into the arms of Jesus on March 4, 2013, surrounded by his family.

He was born in North Hollywood on Jan. 18, 1935. He lived in Paso Robles with his wife and three daughters from 1967 to 1999. His family owned and ran the Rediger Horse Ranch and Redi’s Western and Sportswear clothing store for 30 years.

He was an amazing husband, father, friend, teacher, leader and mentor to many individuals throughout his life. He lived a dedicated Christian life and lead by example. He loved to study and talk about the Bible. He was always positive and accepted people for who and where they were. He loved competitive sports and exercised his entire life. He loved camping, boating and skiing on Lake Nacimiento with his family.

He played professional baseball for the Cleveland Indians in the Farm System, he was on the board of directors for Vanguard University, he was the president of Rotary and the Paso Robles Chamber of Commerce as well as on the planning commission, he served on several different church boards, he taught many adult Bible studies over the years, he volunteered to build churches in South America, he played in the National Tennis Finals. His two favorite Bible scriptures were John 3:16 and Philippines 4:13. His favorite church hymns were, “Jesus Loves Me This I Know” and “I Will Serve Him Because I love him.”

He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of 56 years; his three married daughters, Sonya Vroman, Mychelle Fitzgerald and Taunya Hicks; his son-in-laws, Dan Vroman, Michael Fitzgerald and Tim Hicks; his sister, Anabel Lee. He was also blessed with two grandchildren, Nathan Stone who lives and teaches in China. and Jason Stone. who passed away.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a scholarship fund that he established at his church in Leavenworth, Washington: Upper Valley Christian School, 111 Ski Hill Road, Leavenworth, WA 98826

A memorial service will be held at Leavenworth Church of the Nazarene (same address as school listed above) on April 1 at 1 p.m.
