Two years on, Leo Leo Gelato is on way up

Leo Leo Gelato Master Gelatier Niccolo Lekai has been enthralled by the dense and velvety treat that is gelato for quite some time. He still remembers visiting his Italian grandparents as a toddler: They served the impressionable youth a range of flavors that captivated Lekai’s taste buds and his heart. In 2011, the master gelatier partnered with father Andrea to open the Paso Robles-based gelato and sorbetto business.

Last month, Leo Leo Gelato was picked up by Wiolfgang Puck Catering for the Breeder’s Cup in Santa Anita Park. The premier international horse racing event was attended by nearly 5,000 discerning guests.

“Being picked up by Wolfgang Puck was a really big thing for us to be part of,” said Lekai. “We’re finally starting to reach into markets that are outside of the Central Coast…managing all of these other interests has been a big leap forward for us.”
