SHANDON The 2013-14 season was all about progress for the Shandon varsity boys basketball team, as the Outlaws made it to the CIF playoffs despite having just one senior on the roster.

That senior transfer student Cicero Goddard led the team in scoring all season, but there wasnt enough offensively on Wednesday night against Providence of Santa Barbara.

The Outlaws hosted the Patriots for a CIF-SS Division 6 First Round game, falling to the visitors by a final margin of 77-54.

We came a long ways, said Shandon head coach Michael Hove. Im only gonna lose one player; Ill have the rest of my players back next year. ...These kids now believe that we can do it.

Shandon fell behind big in the first half, scoring just 16 points through the first two quarters. The score at halftime was 32-16 in favor of the Patriots.

But the Outlaws came out on fire in the second half, putting together an 18-2 run to tie the score at 34-34.

In the fourth quarter, Providence got back on track, pulling away from Shandon for what ended up as a blowout win.
