PASO ROBLES — Nearly half of all Paso Robles High School SkillsUSA teens have advanced to the state conference after putting their abilities to the test at the Region 2 competition in Salinas in February.
More than 100 students traveled north to compete in Salinas and when the results were released, 58 had advanced to the state conference set for April 25-27 in San Diego.
“This is a good group of kids,” said SkillsUSA teacher Randy Canaday. “For some of these kids, this could be the occupational area they’re going to go into. Several of my students intend to do that. That’s the part that I like about it. Being a contractor myself, the average age of a professional entering the field of electrical work, for example, is 27.” For the complete article see the 03-07-2014 issue.
