NORTH COUNTY — They kind of sort of look like cigarettes sometimes, but they give off water vapor, not smoke, so why then are the vapes, also known as e-cigarettes, being banned in cities?
“Banning it, it’s just a knee-jerk reaction by non-smokers,” said Mike Kirkpatrick, owner of Stellar Vapes in Atascadero. “When people are worried about secondhand smoke getting to children, are they worried about nicotine? No. They’re worried about all those chemicals getting to children.”
Vapes is the preferred term since e-cigarette is based on the word, cigarette, that comes with a negative connotation. For the complete article see the 04-15-2014 issue.
