Eleanor Victoria Schlegel (née Testerman), 95, of Paso Robles, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 21, 2012.
She was born in December 1916 to Charles and Ella (née Starnes) Testerman in Paso Robles, where she lived most of her life, along with her siblings Charles Testerman Jr., Gladys Testerman Fox, Marvin Testerman and Adella Testerman Dauth. She was very proud of having been a member of a pioneer family that built one of the first houses in Paso Robles.
After graduation from Paso Robles High School, Eleanor married Marvin Henry "Bud" Schlegel on Sept. 24, 1935 in San Luis Obispo. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling, friends and family get-togethers to play Pedro and Dominoes. In 1999, Eleanor happily served as the Pioneer Day Queen. This Pioneer Day, remember her by taking your family to the festivities and enjoying the day.
The family would like to thank the staff of Twin Cities Hospital, Vineyard Hills Health Care, The Lodges at Ada's Vineyard and Central Coast Hospice for their kindness and great care.
Eleanor is survived by her three children Dolores (Bob) Sonne, Bette Killeen and Joseph (Anne) Schlegel. She was a wonderful grandmother to 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
According to her wishes, no service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Day Committee, P.O. Box 262, Paso Robles, CA 93447; or the charity of your choice.
