Jeff Knoph passed away suddenly Sept. 24, 2012 in Phoenix Ariz. He was born to Gus and Donna Knoph in Oakland, Cali. in August of 1960.
Jeff moved with his family to Paso Robles in 1968 and to Atascadero in 1972. He quickly became part of the Central Coast community. He swam competitively and became one of the best swimmers around. He broke and held numerous swim records and was nationally ranked. One of Jeff’s first jobs was working at the Atascadero News, where he spent a few years working and assisting in all areas. He graduated from Atascadero High School in 1978 and continued on to complete a two year business degree from Santa Barbara College. After finishing college, Jeff went on to successfully run and own different local businesses, including a restaurant and bar. In 1989 Jeff decided to take on a new challenge and relocate to Phoenix, Ariz. because of his passion for the desert. Given his charisma, charm and friendliness, he found work easily in sales and he never looked back, quickly becoming a supervisor/sales manager.
Jeff really enjoyed spending time socializing. Jeff was able to make friends wherever he went of his kindness and outgoing personality. He loved tracing back his roots and family trees and, not uncommonly, finding long lost relatives. Jeff enjoyed bowling, watching the Arizona Cardinals, Diamondbacks and the Phoenix Suns. He was an avid outdoorsman, an amateur cinephile, loved to travel and was very proud of his garden in Arizona (given the short growing season). But his biggest passion was cooking. He was a magnificent cook. He loved feeding people, strangers, family and friends alike. If he was not out on the town, he would be in the kitchen creating incredible meals. When Jeff visited family and friends, he would insist on cooking, no one ever objected because of his culinary talents.
Jeff is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Knoph and Father, Gus Knoph.
Jeff is survived by Greg Hough of Phoenix, brothers, Sean Knoph (Muriel Knoph), Greg Wright (Lori Martin), and Steve Wright. Jeff’s nephews, Stabler and Cooper Knoph, have been particularly robbed of making new memories with their uncle whom they adored.
Jeff will truly be missed by his family and many friends.
A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held in Atascadero on Friday, Oct. 19 at 4:30 p.m. at the Chapel of the Roses with a reception to follow at Chalk Mountain Golf Course.
