Eagles fall in season closer to Pirates

Modified: Thursday, Nov 8th, 2012

MORRO BAY The Templeton High School varsity Eagles traveled to Morro Bay Friday night to battle it out in a game that would determine which football team would earn second place in the Los Padres League but were unable to bring home a win as they fell 48-24 to the Pirates.

The Eagles and Pirates each went into the game with a 4-1 LPL record. When the two teams met in 2011, Templeton earned a 41-21 victory over Morro Bay.

Morro Bay received the opening kick-off and on their second down Derek Viles sprinted off the scrimmage line going 63 yards untouched for the first score of the game. The Pirates, on their next possession, drove down the field to score again on a 10-yard touchdown pass from Tristan Collins to Zach Smith to gain an early 13-0 lead.
