John “Jack” C. Emery passed on Nov. 17, 2012, born to Helen Easton Emery and Alton Titus Emery in October of 1921 in Paso Robles, delivered by Dr. Soby.
For 60-plus years, Jack has owned and operated the family beef cattle ranch in Indian Valley, San Miguel. He has been a good steward of the land, a good cowboy, friend, neighbor and a terrific storyteller.
Jack was extremely proud of his service to his county during World War II. He was a supervisor at the Oakland Naval Shipyards prior to being drafted in the Army in 1944. He was stationed in the South Pacific, where he was a Heavy Equipment Operator in the Army Corp of Engineers.
Jack is preceded in death by his son John A. Emery; and daughter Joan Emery. He is survived by his sister Jean Emery (Steve); brother Jayana Emery (Cathy); daughter Jae Emery Eade (John); daughter-in-law Andi Emery-Drayton (Steve & Son Spencer); granddaughters Jamii Eade Pura (Stan); Ashley Emery McLaughlin (Kevin); grandsons Zac Dalton, John Dalton, John Eade, Jr. (Sondra) and Alton Emery; stepchildren Kyle Righetti, Tom Mailheau (Renee) and Cassie Mailheau; and great-grandchildren Kayce, Shane, Trevor, Tre, Emery and Brett.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the Veterans of Foreign Wars or Salvation Army. A celebration of life will be held at Kuehl-Nicolay Chapel at 1703 Spring St., Paso Robles on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 1:30 p.m.
