Vito Beato

Posted: Tuesday, Dec 18th, 2012

Vito Beato lost his battle with leukemia this past Thursday December 13, 2012 at 89 years of age. He was in the company of his loving wife Jacqueline at the time of his demise.

Vito was born in November of 1923 in Sannicandro Di Bari, Italy. He made his way to America in 1948 and through a great work ethic and sheer resolve worked his way from menial labor jobs until he saved enough money to buy his own home in the suburbs of Chicago, Ill. He married Dolores Brigante (deceased) and had two boys, Lucas and Joseph, and he moved his family and settled in California. With the money he saved he bought his first restaurant in Lynwood, Calif., and another later on in South Gate, Calif. After many years of success, he retired and moved to the Paso Robles area. It was there that he returned to his first love and planted a vineyard. It too was a success and it is in operation today and run by his youngest son Joseph.

Vito was a stalwart member of the church and until his sickness made it hard to travel, and he was a volunteer and parishioner of Saint Rose of Lima in Paso Robles.

Vito was a man of great resolve and had an amazing degree of common sense. At only five feet in physical height, he was a giant of a man in character and example. He was adored and is deeply missed and survived by his wife, Jacqueline (Jackie); his oldest son Lucas and his wife, Robin, youngest son Joseph; stepdaughter Seneca; grandchildren Lena, Amber, Ame Jo, Vito, Sarah, Amanda, Breanna, Rodney, Lorrie and Stefan; great-grandchildren Christopher, Kaitlyn, Katie, Karisa, Jaedin, Joseph, Luca and Mateo.

A Rosary service will be held at the Kuehl-Nicolay Funeral Home at 1703 Spring St., Paso Robles, this Thursday, Dec. 20, at 6 p.m. The funeral will be held at Saint Rose of Lima, 820 Creston Road, Paso Robles, on Friday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m. Vito will be interred at Paso Robles District Cemetery.
