Paso Robles Press: Reflecting on your presidency over the past year on the SLOCOG Board, what are some of the key accomplishments and/or goals achieved?
Strong: As a board, we secured the final funding for the current widening of Highway 46 East to the "Y" and initiated consideration for extending this work to the county line on both Highway 46 and Highway 41. We completed major improvements to the intersection of highways 101 and 41 in Atascadero and moved improvements along Highway 101 from the Cuesta Grade to the Monterey County line into the construction phase.
In the Paso Robles area, we accomplished the median improvements to Highway 101 and went into the construction phase for improvements to the Highway 46 East/101 southbound ramps, the 16th/17th streets on and off ramps and expansion of the 13th Street bridge and Riverside intersection. We also completed the first phase of the Highway 46 West/Theater Drive/S. Vine Street project and took the initial steps to advance the second phase of that project. Grant funds were also acquired to improve our transit center's facilities add bike lanes to Union Road which will allow roadway improvements as well. For the complete article see the 01-11-2013 issue.
