Florence Marie Lang

Posted: Tuesday, Feb 12th, 2013

Florence Marie Lang was born in Plattsmouth, Nebraska on a family farm on July 22, 1919. She died at the age of 93 on February 6, 2013.

She attended Catholic Church and schools in the small town. Her parents were Mikel Sedlak and Cathrine Chop who came to America from Czechoslovakia. In her early 20s, she met and married Wilbert R Lang. They ran a small restaurant until her husband was drafted into the Army for World War II. The service brought them to Paso Robles for training at Camp Roberts until he was shipped out for duty.

It was during this time that Florence decided to stay in California with the Hambly family until her husbandís return. Paso Robles became their life-long home. The Tuley family was also involved with helping her during the war effort.

Florence was the last surviving member of ten children. She is survived by her children, daughters Nancy Lang Smith and Mary Catherine Lang of Atascadero, Susan Wich and Stephen Kraynick of Buckeye, Arizona, Steven Wich of Springbranch, Texas. She also has nieces and nephews in Southern California.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband Wilbert Lang in January of 2008 after 67 years of marriage.

Together, they were devoted members of Saint Rose Church. They both had unconditional love for their children and grandchildren. Services will be held Thursday, Feb. 14 at Saint Rose of Lima at 11 a.m. with internment at the Paso Robles District Ceremony.
