David Bouillez is a master woodworker with more than 28 years of experience. Born and raised in the Bay area, he currently lives in Paso Robles. In gratitude for the men and women who lost their lives fighting for the United States, Bouillez created the Memory Box Project, which provides memorial keepsakes to families of fallen soldiers. PASO ROBLES — David Bouillez was sitting in front of the T.V. with his girlfriend when an all-too-familiar news flash played across the screen: More American casualties in Afghanistan.
A former Hollywood movie set builder and a skilled woodworker by trade, Bouillez had just crafted a wooden jewelry box for his sweetheart. As the somber news report continued, the couple had an almost simultaneous “aha” moment.
