It was a job well done for Spay Day volunteers, who, on Sunday, Feb. 24, prevented about 64 unwanted litters of kittens from being born and ultimately reproducing.

Paso Robles veterinary practices, North County Animal Hospital and Paso Robles Petcare, were the home bases for the mission to spay and neuter as many cats as possible. The final tally topped 128 cats. Last year, the group fixed 104.

North County Paws Cause founder Cathy Enns attributes the two-dozen uptick to extra community support. A total of seven vets volunteered their time alongside several willing vet technicians.
