Nicholas A. Ferravanti

Nicholas A. Ferravanti, 66, of Paso Robles went home to be with our Lord on March 17, 2013.

He was born on Jan. 9, 1947, in Glen Cove, N.Y. He worked as an electrician and served on the volunteer fire department in Locust Valley, N.Y., from 1966 to 1979. He served his country in the Armed Forces stationed in Korea from 1966 to 1968. In 1985, he moved to Paso Robles to the property where he resided until his death. He opened his own small engine repair shop in 1987, Maintenance Service and Supply, and ran it until January 2012 when illness forced him to stop.

He was passionate about politics and would engage anyone and everyone in a lively discussion at any time. He served two terms, for a total of 10 years, on the Paso Robles Planning Commission and ran for County Supervisor twice. He was involved in starting the Citizen’s Rights Coalition. He was a frequent caller on KPRL talk radio, where he loved to voice his opinions.

Nick was a loyal friend, always helping where he could, despite working long and hard hours at his business. He was a talented electrician and mechanic who could fix anything. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle in his spare time. Nick will be remembered for always “telling it like it is” and his wry sense of humor.

He is survived by brothers, Robert and Joseph (Laura) Ferravanti; nephews, Gary (Patty) Ferravanti and John Ferravanti; and nieces, Debi Ferravanti, Lisa (Dave) Renelle, Donna and Kim.

The family would like to sincerely thank Hospice Partners and Central Coast Home Assist for the excellent and compassionate care they gave so Nick could spend his final days at home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, www.themmrf.org or to Hospice Partners.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Nick on Saturday, March 23 at 5 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building, 240 Scott St., Paso Robles.
