Thomas John Stroble, 90, of Paso Robles, died on Sunday, April 14, 2013, in Templeton.
Tom was born the eldest of two brothers and raised in Queens, N.Y. During his enlistment in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1941 to 1945, he served as a flight mechanic on the USS Vella Gulf in the South Pacific. He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant.
In 1946, Tom worked for ServiceSoft Water in Santa Barbara. He remained with the company until his retirement in 1981 as a manager.
Tom was a devout Catholic who also served as an usher for many years at Santa Margarita de Cortona Catholic Church. His hobbies were chopping and splitting his own firewood and wood crafting.
His survivors include his daughter, Lynn Stroble; son, Joe (Cindi); grandchildren Peter, Kayla, Emily (Tony) and Jessica; and great-grandchildren, Talli, Sophia, Ryder, Lola and Libby.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn, in 2000; son, Tom Jr., in 1990; and his brother, John “Jack” Stroble, in 1984.
Throughout his life, Tom demonstrated a depth of faith, friendship, tenacity, a ready wit and reliable care for his loved ones and others in need. His presence will be sorely missed.
On April 16, 2013, the recitation of the rosary service was held at Kuehl-Nicolay Mortuary at 1703 Spring St. in Paso Robles.
On April 17, 2013, a funeral Mass was celebrated at Santa Margarita de Cortona Catholic Church at 22515 H St. in Santa Margarita.
Interment followed at Calvary Cemetery in Santa Barbara.
